Dither Lab
Dithering and risograph inks, live in TouchDesigner
I’m bringing the patterns and ink separations from my still-image dithering work into video. The first version put several inks in one box. The next separates each ink into a Dither Layer and combines them in Dither Mix, so I can change one layer without rebuilding the whole look.
I’m also exploring grain that changes at different rates: fine specks, slower clumps and a drifting layer.
The first picture is from inside TouchDesigner: one frame of a camera-slider test through four of the layer presets. The others are earlier renders of the same shaders on one of my watercolours, made outside TouchDesigner while the components were being built.
It is a working prototype. It first ran inside TouchDesigner in November 2026; masks, timing with video and checks on a show machine come next.
